India Food Processing Market Reaches $1.5 Bn by 2033 with 8.8 Pc CAGR Growth
India's food processing sector positions itself among the fastest-growing industries with government approval for 100 percent Foreign Direct Investment in the food and beverage segment, creating significant retail opportunities.
The food processing and ingredients sector demonstrates robust expansion at 8.8 percent CAGR, with projections to double by 2030. Food-tech companies exceed global performance benchmarks, achieving 14 percent CAGR growth rates. Market forecasts indicate food processing equipment will reach $1.5 billion by 2033, while packaging machinery markets project $6.6 billion by 2030.
Anuga FoodTec India and Anuga Select India 2025 launched at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, attracting international diplomatic participation. Representatives included H.E. Ahmad Al Ahmari from Saudi Arabia's Royal Embassy, H.E. Zozo Binti from D.R. Congo, H.E. Labane Gideon from South Africa's Consulate General, H.E. Donnawit Poolsawat from Thailand's Consulate General, alongside Bastian Mingers, Vice President Food Portfolio at Koelnmesse GmbH, and Milind Dixit, Managing Director India and SAARC at Koelnmesse Pvt Ltd.
Seetharaman Raghupathi, Executive Director, National Dairy Development Board stated, "India's food and beverage sector is growing rapidly, backed by 180 million hectares of arable land, food processing valued at Rs 75 trillion, and food expenditure making up over 40 percent of consumer spend. Dairy contributes 25 percent of this sector, with India producing one-fourth of the world's milk, worth Rs 12 trillion. With 17 million farmers across 235,000 villages, 35 percent of whom are women, dairy cooperatives return 75 percent of the consumer rupee, channelling Rs 2.1 billion daily into the rural economy. Initiatives like White Revolution 2.0, which aims to establish 75,000 new cooperatives by 2028–29, will further boost this growth."
The three-day expo anticipates 60,000 visitors, featuring over 1100 exhibitors across 55,000 sqm of exhibition space covering the complete food and beverage industry spectrum. International participation reaches 30 percent, with representation from 65 countries presenting cutting-edge innovations.
Koelnmesse India organizes the events from 20th to 22nd August 2025, targeting South Asia's food and beverage growth through innovation promotion, international partnership facilitation, and trade knowledge exchange opportunities.
